Greece

A dream come true

I have always, like ALWAYS wanted to go to Greece.
It's been on my top travel destinations list for a long time now and I am beyond happy that I can say at 24 years old, I managed to fulfill this one little desire of mine.

I thought that I had hyped up the location too much, and that because of all the anticipation built up around Greece, that I would be disappointed. That it would never be able to meet my expectations.
I was wrong :)

Greece is absolutely beautiful. Its so cute!! The white washed houses built right on top of each other, the quaint walkways, never-ending stair cases and the view from the island surrounded by clear blue seas was breathtaking.

Some parts of Greece look better than others. In fact, if you're hoping to see the catedral and other buildings with the blue tops then you MUST go to Oia (pronounced "ia") on Santorini. Other locations on the Island won't really be what you expect...but Oia, is exactly what you see in the movies.

To get to the Greek Islands you can either fly onto the Islands, or take a ferry from the Greece Mainland in Athens. I took the ferry. Greece has a large number of Islands but I only visited Santorini aka Thira. The ride on a fast ferry was 5 hours long, and it cost 59€ / $78

each way. Totalling 118€/ $156 for a roundtrip. The slower

ferries are cheaper but take 2x as long and I did not have time for all that.

Upon arrival in Santorini, I took a bus into the town Fira and

once there, walked to my Hostel. I stayed at a hostel called

CaveLand. Pictures below!
The bathroom at Caveland (my hostel of choice)

Notice the cellings! These rooms are in caves that were built in the 18th century. The caves are a typical traditional Santorinian architecture and were used as wineries. Later they would be  made suitable to live in and now if you visit Santorini you can  stay in its caves! My room was great, not much air circulation at night but it was not hot, stuffy or uncomfortable. Also voices echo so I  had to keep that in mind.

While in Santorini I walked around, took a ton of photos, went to a restaurant and even went to a foot spa!
